Fasting Glucose

The baseline for metabolic health and cancer-relevant glucose management.

What it is

Fasting blood glucose measures how much sugar is in your blood after at least 8 hours without eating. It reflects both insulin sensitivity and your body's baseline metabolic state.

Why it matters

Many cancers are glucose-dependent. Chronically elevated glucose feeds a hormonal environment (via insulin and IGF-1) that promotes cell proliferation. Keeping fasting glucose in the low-normal range is one of the most controllable variables in a cancer protocol.

How to test

Standard blood panel, fasted. CGM (continuous glucose monitor) gives much richer real-time data.

Optimal range

Below 5.0 mmol/L (90 mg/dL)

optimal

5.0–5.6 mmol/L

normal

Above 5.6 mmol/L

suggests impaired fasting glucose

How often

Blood test every 3 months. CGM data continuously if you use one.
