Body Weight

Daily weight is noisy. Weekly trends are signal.

What it is

Body weight measured under consistent conditions (morning, after toilet, before eating) gives a proxy for hydration status, fluid retention, and longer-term mass trends.

Why it matters

In a cancer context, unintentional weight loss is a critical warning sign and a prognostic indicator. It can precede obvious symptoms by weeks. Daily weigh-ins give early warning. Stable or increasing weight under treatment is a positive sign.

How to test

Scale with body composition (Withings, Tanita). Weigh daily, same time, same conditions. Track in an app — Bevel works well for this.

Optimal range

Stable weight within your healthy range. BMI 20–25 as a rough guide. More useful: maintaining or gaining lean mass while managing fat mass.
