Two years they said

730 days. What do you do with a number like that?

I never asked "why me?" Even though I had lived healthily for years — no alcohol, no smoking, regular exercise and trail running. A doctor told me: "I'm sorry, unfortunately, it always happens to people that do not deserve it." Research across 10,000+ patients found no personality connections to cancer beyond lifestyle factors like smoking, drinking, or obesity.

Why me?

Rather than seeking culprits, I reached a pivotal realisation: once I accepted that there was no answer, the only question left was what to do with the time I have.

Time is limited

Approximately 730 days predicted. Over 100 already elapsed when that number landed. Humans have limited time and should prioritise achievable changes, with health as the starting point.

Many people postpone dreams indefinitely. I had previously suppressed emotions, undervalued my own needs, and lived stressed. Facing mortality brought clarity that I had not managed to find any other way.

Life project

Health is the foundation for all other goals. Already making hundreds of changes, and combined with treatment, I believe the two-year number is something to significantly exceed — not accept as a ceiling.

Whether life ends soon or in thirty years, I stopped waiting. I now pursue clear goals. The diagnosis did not end the story. It started a different one.
