Triglycerides

Dietary fat and sugar signal β€” highly responsive to lifestyle changes.

What it is

Triglycerides are the main form of fat stored in the body. Blood triglycerides reflect recent dietary intake (especially carbohydrates and alcohol) as well as metabolic health. They are highly variable and respond quickly to diet changes.

Why it matters

Elevated triglycerides indicate metabolic stress and are associated with increased cardiovascular risk and insulin resistance. They are one of the fastest-responding lipid markers to dietary modification β€” a drop in processed carbs and alcohol will show in triglycerides within weeks.
