Senolytic / Neuroprotective
Fisetin
The most potent natural senolytic compound identified to date.
What it is
Fisetin is a flavonoid found in strawberries, apples, and persimmons β but at concentrations too low to achieve therapeutic effect through diet alone. It is the only natural compound that the Mayo Clinic has identified as significantly more potent than other natural senolytics tested.
Why it matters
Senolytics selectively kill senescent cells β a mechanism directly relevant to inflammation, cancer progression, and aging. Fisetin is also neuroprotective (crosses the blood-brain barrier) and has shown direct anti-cancer activity in pre-clinical models. Combined with quercetin, it represents a powerful natural senolytic protocol.
The evidence
A landmark Mayo Clinic study screening 10 natural compounds found fisetin was the most potent senolytic. Multiple human trials are underway. Typical research doses: 20mg/kg body weight for 2 consecutive days per month (approximately 1200β1500mg for a 70kg person).
This information is for educational purposes and does not constitute medical advice. Always discuss supplement use with your care team, particularly if you are undergoing active cancer treatment.
Dosing
100β500mg per day for daily use. For senolytic cycling: higher doses (500β1500mg) for 2β3 consecutive days per month. Must be taken with fat for absorption (fat-soluble compound). Combining with quercetin may enhance effects.
Cautions
Fat-soluble β requires dietary fat. Limited long-term human safety data at high senolytic doses. Do not use during active chemotherapy without oncologist approval β mechanism may interact with some agents. Avoid during pregnancy.
